Thursday (Kraken Troop) at Three Bridges

Friday (Phoenix Troop) at Three Bridges

Operating over Thursday and Friday evenings, 5th Crawley has two Scout Troops.  Our existing Kraken Troop which meets on a Thursday evening and our newly formed Phoenix Troop which meets on a Friday evening. Each Troop works to the same programme, coming together as needed for joint events.

Over the period between January and March 2024, the members of each Scout Troop took part in discussions on wellness (physical and mental health), learnt pioneering skills so as to move a container around the Hut using only ropes and pulleys, investigated map reading skills using coordinates to navigate around Crawley and discussed packing kit for an expedition/camp.  During February, 12 Scouts took part in a 10 mile hike from Horsham to Stanford Campsite, Pease Pottage where a number of the Scouts then went on to pitch tents, spending a night under canvas. Evening activities included cooking dinner, building a camp gadget from pioneering poles and rope and playing games.

In the coming summer term, the Scouts are planning a mixture of indoor and outdoor actives to include environmental conservation, expanding on the knowledge of knots, archery and tomahawk throwing, with the term ending in the annual Summer Camp.
