5th Crawley Scouts Celebrate St George’s Day with the Crawley District

Date: 28th Apr 2025 Author: Gareth Thrower

On Sunday, 5th Crawley joined Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorer Scouts from across the Crawley District to celebrate St George’s Day — the patron saint of Scouting.

The event brought together around 500 young people and leaders, gathering at the Memorial Gardens in Crawley town centre. Each unit proudly marched behind their flag bearer, creating a vibrant and united display of Scouting spirit.

At the bandstand, all members took part in the traditional renewal of their Scout Promise — a key moment in Scouting that reaffirms the values and commitment shared across the movement. For some of our youngest members, this was the very first time they had taken part in this special tradition.

The celebration concluded with everyone singing the national anthem together, filling the gardens with a powerful sense of pride and community.

Well done to all those who represented 5th Crawley so brilliantly — and a big thank you to the leaders, families, and volunteers who made the day possible!
